Ah the holidays are coming! Just a few more weeks to go and it’s Christmas. For all those who have completed their christmas shopping. I’d say good job! For the rest though, there are times when you just really don’t know what to get your special someone.
Normally for me and my girl, we’ve already somehow gotten past this little problem. Technically we’ve been doing this since we met. What we do is that we talk about what we want prior to Christmas and then that’s it. Although we both throw in a surprise with the gifts without the other knowing.
But for most if not all I’d like to share the top five gifts I’ve given for my girl that made Christmas extra special. (in no particular order)
Forget-me-knot Ring:
Saw this online for gift ideas during mother’s day and we just recently saw The Count of Monte Cristo on DVD around that time. We loved that movie! Especially the one with Jim Caviezel and in that movie he gave his woman a knot (on the finger) before he got betrayed by his best friend. Anyway, I ordered the white gold one online and kept it till christmas as an additional surprise. Oh and if you’re on a budget you can always get the silver one which is still really beautiful! And yeah, you can also go for one of those infinity rings. I think it's very popular wishlist items these days especially for Filipina women because of some famous soap opera LOL.
Charm Bracelet:
If you want a gift that keeps on giving, get your girl a charm bracelet. For the rest of the year you can get her an extra charm to remind her of those special moments that you have. There are a lot of really good stores in any city in any country that has this and you can customize the charms depending on your budget and taste.
Wax Seal Stamp:
My girl loves reading romance novels that are set in the good old days when chivalry wasn’t dead yet. So at one time I went to a specialty store and saw this little beauty complete with red wax candle (there are other colors too) and box. It looked like it belonged in a museum and until now she uses it everytime I get a letter from her. Plus you can get one with the letter of her first name to make it very personalized. Also it’s not too expensive.
Edifier Alarm Clock Ipod/Iphone Dock:
If your girl has and\ iphone or ipod or if you actually have the budget to buy her an iphone or an ipod touch / ipod. This would be the perfect gift. I got this for her when I bought the first generation ipod as a Christmas gift. Based on her wishlist. And for such a small set of speakers this one packs a punch! Pretty easy on the wallet too.
Meteorite Fragment:
I saw this at a specialty store and they were selling authenticated fragments from space! Now I’m a complete and total nerd and my girl at one point was telling me that she has never seen a shooting star. I got one and had it set as a pendant on a necklace as a promise that while I can’t get her to see one, I can definitely give it to her. She fondly recalls that day as the day that I gave her a "rock". About 2 months later she finally saw her first shooting star.
Now I don’t guarantee that the list that I have is something that your girl will also like. Its also really hard to make an unbiased list as every girl is different. Most important about giving gifts is that you made an effort to know what your loved one wants and carefully picked your gift with the intention of making her happy. This is my list from the past gifts that I have given and while they range from the not so expensive to the downright extravagant ones, I got them because I know what she loves. The most important thing during Christmas is that you both spend it together and enjoy it! Merry Christmas to all the lovers in the world out there! Hope your Christmas is as good as mine.
